Star Wars and Mark Hamill’s Involvement in White House Briefing

Mark Hamill confirmed on June 4th that he was not involved in any way (nor even contacted) concerning the White House’s press release. The release from the White House’s Twitter account on Star Wars Day included Mark Hamill’s name singularly, as if he were involved; the tweet also contained a classic investigative reporting technique coined the “dummy quote” – a fake quote attributed to the unspoken Mark Hamill. After the error was brought to light, Hamill tweeted an angry response to the Trump administration.

The Trump administration cannot win at attracting celebrities. Donald Trump’s inauguration was a little sparce when it came to recognisable talent. Memo to Kelly Anne Conway: if you endorse, you should also be able to secure conversation with the person that you’ve just endorsed. It’s a tricky truth – what draws a crowd to a project involving politics might not bring them to a box office.

Mark Hamill is an actor. His film credits include: “The Big Red One,” “Slipstream,” “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia,”, “Corvette Summer”, “Wizards,” “Britannia Hospital,” “Body Bags,” “Village of the Damned,” “Walking Across Egypt,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” “Comic Book: The Movie,” and, of course, the first three “Star Wars” movies that were considered Episodes IV, V, and VI, but later became the second, fifth, and sixth movies in the saga. He is also known for his voice acting, notably “Mark Hamill’s Children’s Audiobooks” and his roles as “Hobgoblin” and “The Joker” in the animated features “Spider-Man” and “Batman: the Animated Series.

” Once again, the current administration is hopelessly clueless about proper etiquette for promoting a political agenda. Last time, Kelly Anne Conway advised her Fox news audience to buy Ivanka Trump merchandise. That illegal invitation for personal enrichment resulted in no consequences for Ms. Conway – as the Trump administration has shown that it expects no employee to be held to proper standards. Now, we are learning that the name of a major Hollywood actor (more to the point a key figure in a treasured franchise) was used to promote a different Trump agenda.
