Ahead of the release of ‘The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson,’ which premieres June 1 on Lifetime, her three sisters spoke exclusively with PEOPLE In an upcoming Lifetime documentary series based on the life and violent death of Nicole Brown Simpson, her three sisters are sharing her story.

On June 12, sisters Tanya, 54, Dominique, 59, and oldest Brown sister Denise, 66, will mark the 30th anniversary of the brutal 1994 murder of Nicole, a woman better known for her tumultuous marriage to football superstar O.J. Simpson and the gruesome way her life ended than for how beautifully they say it was lived.

The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, which will air on June 1 and 2, features interviews with 50 people, including Nicole’s sisters, other family members and friends, as well as never-before-seen footage of her.

As for how Nicole’s sisters like to remember the woman who brought light to the world in the 35 years she was here, they imagine she’s up to one thing right now.

“She’s always in her jeans and a leather jacket, always happy, dancing, social. And she’s always still alive.” Nicole Brown Simpson People Magazine Cover 1995.

“The Violence Against Women Act was passed due to Nicole’s murder,” she tells PEOPLE. “She is the root behind a lot of change.
