First Choice American Community Federal Credit Union was established in 1939 with over 80 years supporting the investments of our members and provides an extensive and competitive line of services for our members. We have a full-time staff of 34 employees and offer 8 convenient locations to our members.
The credit union’s primary financial service objective is to provide a broad range of high-quality personal financial services directed at our members’ needs and consistent with our strategic focus. We want to build member relationships by recognizing and meeting member needs and want to ensure cost-effective services and sound consumer education to help more members learn to use our services and become more knowledgeable consumers.
We also want to provide a greater Return on Member Investment by driving profitable balance sheet growth and create an enhanced Savings and Borrowing rate environment for the members, by creating clear accountability and improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency. An important step in achieving this mission is to attract and retain members and employees who reflect the diversity of our community. And finally, we want to improve our member financial needs through various economic cycles.
With seventeen different individual services goals, First Choice America has really set themselves apart from their competitor offering many additional services on top of the usual share accounts, loans, and credit cards. We offer savings accounts, IRA accounts, and certificates. On the education aspect of our mission for our members, we offer student loans and reward money for scholars who maintain a high grade point average.
For members in tougher financial conditions, we help lend out a helping hand with our free payday skip-a-loan program and credit disability loans life insurance. On the home front, we have home equity loans, mortgage loans, and a Visa credit card for your everyday home needs. And even when one retires, we offer great retirement benefits with a choice of direct deposit, our services in the Senior Privilege program, and best of all a lifetime of membership at First Choice America with no worries about the cost of membership for any member.
Overview
To become a member of First Choice America, you only need to open a Share (Savings) Account with as little as $5.00 and maintain a minimum of $5.00 in the Share Account. After you are a member, you can enjoy the convenience and friendly atmosphere the credit union offers while receiving one-on-one attention from our professional staff. Our hours are also very accommodating to those with busy work schedules.
We are open Monday – Thursday from 9AM – 5PM, Fridays 9AM – 6PM, and Saturdays 9AM – 12PM. With the wide range of services and products the credit union offers, there is something available for everyone. Outlined briefly, we offer Share Draft and Debit Card Accounts, which allow access and withdrawal abilities to your funds. We have many loan products such as Auto, Home Equity, and Mortgage. We also offer a variety of other loans such as Personal, Share Secured, and Student.
The loan products are all offered with competitive rates and terms. The credit union also offers a wide range of savings products such as Share Certificates, Money Market, and Individual Retirement Accounts. With any of these products or services, the Credit Union offers a free and convenient online and telephone system. This system can allow you access or assist with just about anything on your account. Any more inquiries on account information can be made through our Call Center during regular business hours.
First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union is a non-profit financial institution owned and operated by its members. These members share a common bond, such as their place of employment. All individuals who work at the same occupation will share the same common bond.
This concept of a common bond gives the Credit Union a special cohesiveness and an opportunity for a more personal relationship. Our Board of Directors and Committee members are volunteers elected by the membership. Their dedication and untiring efforts help make the Credit Union succeed. First Choice America has been successful due to the loyalty and support of our members.
Our membership has grown to over 60,000, and our assets now exceed 500 million. With that continued loyalty and support we can continue to grow and offer our members quality and professional service for years to come. We currently have 6 locations in the Ohio Valley: Weirton, Newell, Follansbee, St. Clairsville, Wintersville, and Wheeling.
Mission Statement
Credit unions are cooperative financial institutions, owned and controlled by the people who use their services. These people are members. Credit unions serve groups that share something in common, such as where they work, live, or go to church. Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members.
This means that all earnings are returned to the members in the form of lower rates on loans, higher rates on savings, and low or no fee services. Credit unions are economic democracy. Each credit union member has equal ownership and one vote, regardless of how much a person has on deposit. At a credit union, every customer is both a member and an owner.
First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union is a nonprofit, member-owned financial cooperative. Our goals are to provide our members with quality financial services at the best possible rates. As a credit union, First Choice America does not advertise, nor do we have a large budget for marketing. We rely on member referrals and the good word of our members to encourage others to join the credit union.
